Join SabreWing Travel on assignment as we explore Hopkins Village on the Belize central Coast
/Here at SabreWing Travel we consider ourselves to be Belize Vacation and Travel Experts and one of the ways that we live up to this claim is by regularly traveling in each region in the country and visiting the resorts and lodges that we think best showcase Belize’s unique natural beauty and warm hospitality. These visits as are referred to “Familiarity” or FAM trips and we make it a point to visit every hotel, lodge, and resort that we recommend on a yearly basis to make sure that they continue to be among the top accommodations in the country.
This weekend we are heading to Hopkins Village along the central coast to visit the top beach resorts in the area. Hopkins is a small Garifuna village on the mainland located on the Caribbean coast in the southcentral portion of the country just south of Dangriga Town. It boasts one of the longest continuous stretches of beach in Belize and is an ideal destination for people who are looking for a beach vacation but also want to have easy access to jungle activities. The barrier reef is just half an hour off-shore so diving and snorkelling tours can be easily arranged from Hopkins while fishing, sea-kayaking, and sailing can be enjoyed nearer to the shore. Meanwhile, a variety of inland adventures are also an option when you stay at Hopkins: jungle hiking, canopy zip-lines, cave tubing, and even trips to the Maya Sites in Western Belize are all available as day tours.
We love that Hopkins still remains more of a village than a mainstream tourism destination. It’s laid back, easy going atmosphere make it a great place to relax and we have often vacationed here ourselves. But this time, we are traveling to Hopkins on assignment as well as for fun! Our mission is to visit the top beach resorts and villas in the area and discover which of these locations offer the best combination of beauty, location, service, comfort and value. It is an ambitious itinerary and we are packing it in to make the most of the trip.
Over the weekend, we will be touring Caribbean Shores, Villa Verano (where we will enjoy lunch prepared by their guest chef), Parrots Cove Resort (we will join them for dinner at their restaurant Love on the Rocks), Sarkiki Resort, Jaguar Reef Resort (which will be our overnight destination!), Almond Beach Resort, Villa Margarita, Hamanasi, Belizean Dreams Resort (we will also enjoy breakfast there), Coconut Row Guest House, and finally, Hopkins Bay Resort (where we will also have a chance to experience their restaurant).
