Custom Tour to Belize from August 7-21, 2015: Itinerary Summary and Included Services
Day 1 – August 7: Arrive in Belize, Travel to Lamanai Outpost Lodge
- Transportation: Arrive at the international airport in Belize City. Here you will meet your driver and head north to the New River where you will meet your boat to continue your journey to your first overnight destination, the Lamanai Outpost Lodge
- Accommodation: Overnight at Lamanai Outpost Lodge in two Lagoon View Rooms
- Meals: Gourmet Dinner at Lamanai Outpost Lodge
- Tours: After dinner, head out on a night river safari on the New River Lagoon in search of Morlet's Crocodiles and other nocturnal wetland creatures
Day 2 – August 8: Lamanai Outpost Lodge, Lamanai Maya Site and New River Lagoon
- Tours: morning tour of the Lamanai Maya Site, Belize's second largest archaeological site AND sunset cocktail cruise on the New River Lagoon to spot birds and enjoy the wetland habitat at dusk
- Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner at Lamanai Outpost Lodge
- Accommodations: Overnight Lamanai Outpost Lodge in two Lagoon View Rooms
Day 3 – August 9: Travel to Pook's Hill Lodge with Zip Line Tour
- Tours: Rise early this morning and choose from a jungle dawn walk or sunrise canoe trip
- Transportation: After an early breakfast, depart the Lamanai Outpost Lodge and travel back down the New River and then transfer back to the international airport. Here, you meet your guide/driver and you begin your journey west and into the Maya Mountains, eventually arriving at Pook’s Hill Lodge
- Tours: Zip-line Canopy tour on the way to Pook’s Hill (including entrance fee)
- Meals: Breakfast Lamanai Outpost Lodge, and dinner at Pook’s Hill Lodge
- Accommodations: Overnight at Pook’s Hill Lodge in 2 Cabanas
Day 4 – August 10: Guided Tours in the Pook's Hill Nature Reserve
- Tours: Rise early today for guided bird watching before breakfast; Spend the morning exploring the rain forest of the Pook's Hill Reserve with a naturalist guide; Spend the afternoon swimming and inner tubing on the Roaring River with a guide or on your own; Night walk in the forest after dinner
- Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner at Pook’s Hill Lodge
- Accommodations: Overnight at Pook’s Hill Lodge in 2 Cabanas
Day 5 – August 11: Free Day at Pook's Hill Lodge
- Meals: Breakfast, and dinner at Pook’s Hill Lodge
- Accommodations: Overnight at Pook’s Hill Lodge in 2 Cabanas
- Tours: Free to day to enjoy and explore Pook’s Hill Lodge on your own or add an additional day tour (for example to the ATM Cave, the Barton Creek Cave, Xunantunich Maya Site, etc.). Additional tour not included in the quote
Day 6 – August 12: Travel to Tikal and the Maya Biosphere Reserve
- Meals: Breakfast at Pook’s Hill Lodge
- Transportation: Today you will depart Pook's Hill after breakfast and travel to Guatemala's Petén Department to the Maya Biosphere Reserve where you will check in to your hotel right at the entrance of the Tikal Maya Site
- Accommodation: Overnight in a double room and a single room at the Jungle Lodge at the Tikal Park Entrance
- This afternoon you may visit the Tikal museum or you can take a tour of the Tikal Temples with or without a guide
Day 7 – August 13: Tikal Temples Tour then Travel to Black Rock Lodge
- Today you are free to explore and enjoy the Tikal Temples and Maya Biosphere Reserve on your own or with a guide in the morning.
- Transportation: You will depart Tikal in the afternoon and make your way back to Belize and to Black Rock Lodge along the banks of the Macal River
- Meals: Dinner at Black Rock Lodge
- Accommodation: One Riverview Cabin and one Deluxe Cabin at Black Rock Lodge
Day 8 – August 14: Black Rock Lodge, Macal River Canoeing, Belize Botanical Gardens, and Chaa Creek Natural History Center
- Tours: Take a canoe trip along the Macal River from Black Rock to the Belize Botanical Gardens and then visit the Butterfly Farm and Natural History Center at Chaa Creek
- Meals: Breakfast and dinner at Black Rock Lodge
- Accommodation: One Riverview Cabin and one Deluxe Cabin at Black Rock Lodge
Day 9 – August 15: Free Day at Black Rock Lodge
- Today you have the option of enjoying the extensive Black Rock property on your own, arranging for some of Black Rock's guided onsite activities, or booking a day tour (to the Caracol Maya Site or any other area attractions for example). Guided onsite activities and additional day tours are not included in the package rate and would carry an additional fee.
- Meals: Breakfast and dinner at Black Rock Lodge
- Accommodation: One Riverview Cabin and one Deluxe Cabin at Black Rock Lodge
Day 10 – August 16: Travel to Placencia with Tour of Blue Hole National Park
- Transportation: You will depart Black Rock after breakfast today and journey east and then south to Placencia
- Tours: You will stop at the Blue Hole National Park on the way to Placenacia to explore the trails and go for a swim
- Meals: Breakfast at Black Rock
Days 10-13 – August 16-19: The Placencia Peninsula
Included Accommodations: The upstairs Studio Suite of the Colibri House in Placencia for Carlo and Anna and the downstairs Studio Apartment for Mauro
The next four days are for you to relax and enjoy the Placencia area. Snorkeling, diving, and reef fishing opportunities in the pristine underwater ecosystems near the Silk Cayes and along the southern portion of the barrier reef are just a short boat ride away from Placencia. Closer to shore, the Placencia lagoon is the perfect place to explore via a sea-kayak or to try your hand at some flats fishing for Bonefish. Jungle adventures are also at your fingertips from Placencia. The Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary - aka the Jaguar Reserve - is a massive jungle park about an hour from Placencia that offers miles of hiking trails to spectacular overlooks and magical waterfalls and a chance to spot jungle animals. A boat trip up to Monkey River is also likely to reward guests with abundant opportunities for wildlife viewing and is highly recommended. And if you simply want to relax, the idyllic beach setting and laid- back atmosphere of Placencia's comfortable resorts provide the perfect environment to kick-back and enjoy the breeze
Day 14 – August 20: Travel to Caye Caulker with a Belize Zoo Tour
- Transportation: Land transfer from Placencia to the water taxi station in Belize City where you can catch a water taxi to Cay Caulker
- Tours: On the way to Belize City you will stop for a visit to the world famous Belize Zoo – all the animals are native to Belize and are displayed in natural habitat enclosures
- Accommodations: Rooms #3 and #4 at the charming Tree Tops Inn at Caye Caulker
Days 14-15 – August 20-21: Cay Caulker
The next two days are free for you to enjoy the laid back and fun Caribbean atmosphere of Caye Caulker. This charming little island is a great place to relax and enjoy the “island vibe” and also offers access to a variety of marine activities along the barrier reef. A day trip to go snorkeling at the Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley is highly recommended.
Day 16 – August 22: Depart Belize
Transportation: Flight from Caye Caulker to the Belize International airport to meet your flight back to Europe.
